Information requirements on owners of short-term rental properties (1) Regulations made under section 1 must allow local housing authorities to require that owners of short-term rental properties provide information to the relevant local housing authority detailing, for each calendar year— (a) the total number of nights that the advertised short-term rental property has been occupied by short-term tenants; (b) in each instance of an occupancy, the number of nights occupied and to whom the property was let. Interpretation In this Act— “ local housing authority ” has the meaning given by section 261 of the Housing Act 2004 ; “ short-term rental property ” means— (a) a dwelling-house let for the purpose of conferring on the tenant the right to occupy the dwelling-house for no more than 90 days in a calendar year, or (b) any part of a dwelling-house let for the purpose of conferring on the tenant the right to occupy that part of the dwelling-house for no more than 90 days in a calendar year.
